MCAD Applauds ArtCAM
The following
piece is taken from the July/August edition 2002 of CAD Magazine, MCAD.
This short extract was taken from an article reviewing Delcam's software
solutions following the 2002 International Press event, Held in
Birmingham.
"The next product up for discussion and demonstration was one of
Delcam's niche systems, ArtCAM. Between you and me, it's one of my all
time favorites (any system which lists chocolate molding and biscuit
manufacture as a Typical application has to be a winner). ArtCAM is a
very simple-to-use system, which allows you to take flat 2D designs and
turn them very quickly into 3D relief models. It's aimed at those
looking to create complex designs with a high degree of artistic
content, for example, jewellery, coin design, paper and foil embossing,
precision engraving. You can start with a 2D layout of your design and
then quickly build up the reliefs that bring it to 3D life. While
biscuits and jewellery are not of typical interest to MCAD readers, it
is used all over the place and by all manner of companies; by many
national mints (the Royal Mint, US, Canadian, Australian, Brazilian,
Moscow and Japanese), through to giants like Nike, Ford, Fisher Price
and Mattel. It's a wonderful piece of software that does exactly what it
needs to and does it well, no more, no less -which these days is a
distinct rarity."
