Oct. 20 2000 - Pacific Aerospace & Electronics Upgrades to Mastercam CAD/CAM Software
Steve Kidd, president of Cimtech, a Mastercam distributor in Washington State, announced today that Pacific Aerospace & Electronics, Inc of Wenatchee WA., is making Mastercam Software, the company standard for all their CNC programmers. Bill Schmidt, lead programmer of Manufacturing and Engineering at Pacific Aerospace & Electronics headquartered in Wenatchee, WA, said the company had made the decision to go with Mastercam for its ease of use in creating toolpaths. “It’s also cost effective,” he added. “You can’t get a better CAD/CAM software for the money. It’s a hundred times better than what we were using.” Another benefit Schmidt noted is Mastercam’s dominance in education as well. “If we need to hire a skilled machine tool technician, chances are he or she will know Mastercam.” In fact, several Pacific employees are already familiar with the software, making the transition an especially smooth one. Schmidt said the company was also impressed by the tech support and training Cimtech offers. Pacific Aerospace & Electronics, Inc., is an international fully integrated manufacturing ISO 9000 company specializing in technically demanding components and assemblies, and counts among it clients Honeywell International, Boeing, Swiss Air and the Matra-Bae Dynamics. Pacific Aerospace also standardized on Mazak machine tools investing in 27 new machines for the Wenatchee facility.
